As an important product of modern indoor lighting, LED ceiling lamps are widely used in residential, office buildings, commercial spaces and other scenes. Surface ceiling installation (Surface Mounted) is one of the most common fixing methods. It is simple to construct and widely applicable. However, there are still many details that need to be strictly controlled during the actual installation process to ensure the safe and stable operation of the lamp, extend the service life, and ensure the lighting effect.
Selection and matching installation environment
Before the LED ceiling lamp is installed on the surface, the structural conditions of the installation environment must be fully considered. First of all, it is necessary to make it clear that the installation surface is concrete, solid wood, gypsum board or metal material, and different substrates require different specifications of fixings. Ordinary concrete structures can use expansion screws, and gypsum boards need to use non-slip expansion tubes with fixed wings to ensure that the lamp does not loosen or sag for a long time. In addition, the bearing capacity of the ceiling needs to be evaluated to ensure that it can support the lamp body and its vibration bearing capacity to avoid potential safety hazards.
Reasonable reservation of electrical interfaces
Surface-mounted LED ceiling lamps are usually directly connected to the power cord. During construction, electrical lead wires must be reserved in advance at the installation location to ensure that the wire length is moderate and the insulation is intact. During the wiring process, avoid sharp bends, exposed joints or excessive tension, and all wiring ports must be insulated. To improve construction efficiency and convenience for later maintenance, it is recommended to use standard wiring terminals instead of winding wiring. For smart lighting products, additional signal lines or communication interfaces must be reserved according to the control system (such as dimming, color temperature adjustment, and voice control).
Strictly fix the structural parts
Surface ceiling installation requires a firm and reliable structure to fix the main body of the lamp to the ceiling. Usually LED ceiling lamps are equipped with a mounting base or hanging plate. When installing, the hanging plate should be firmly fixed to the predetermined position with screws, and then the lamp body and the hanging plate should be combined. During the construction process, an electric drill should be used to drill holes, and the hole position must be consistent with the opening of the hanging plate to avoid uneven force on the base due to misalignment. The number and diameter of the screws should meet the requirements of the product manual, and the specifications cannot be reduced or changed without authorization to ensure that the tensile strength meets the safety standards.
Pay attention to dust and moisture-proof design
When installing on the ceiling in environments with high humidity or more oil smoke, such as kitchens and bathrooms, it is necessary to select LED ceiling lamps with dust and moisture-proof performance. Products with IP44 rating and above are preferred to ensure that the lamp housing has a good sealing structure. During the installation process, the housing should be deformed and the sealing rubber ring should be misaligned to avoid water vapor entering the interior of the lamp, affecting the electrical performance or causing a short circuit. In bathrooms or humid spaces, it should be kept away from the water vapor outlet to prevent the lamp from being directly exposed to moisture for a long time.
Ensure the direction and uniformity of light effect
The surface installation of LED ceiling lamps usually projects light downward, and the installation height and position will directly affect the range and uniformity of light. During actual installation, the luminous flux requirements should be calculated according to the lighting design, and the installation height should be ensured to meet the space brightness standard. For example, in a residence with a standard floor height of 2.6 meters, installing it in the central position can effectively achieve illumination coverage; if it is an office or study area, it is recommended to use auxiliary lighting to improve uniformity. If the position of the lamp deviates from the lighting center, a product with a wider beam angle or a diffuser should be selected to reduce shadows and lighting dead angles.
